Haha, no, not my puppets. If you look at my puppet-making tutorials, you’ll know that mine don’t actually take that long.

And they said “100 hours of labor”. It doesn’t mean that one person spent 100 hours on each puppet. They probably have a team of puppet builders doing different things. They use all the best materials they can think of, and they custom-make a lot of stuff. These puppets are built for a big show, and they have to be really durable to go through countless rehearsals and performances. That’s why each puppet would take that long to build.

Mine, on the other hand (no pun intended), are built from store-bought fabrics and household materials. They are not professional-grade and they have a lot fewer details. So yeah, they don’t take nearly as long.

100 hours PER PUPPET? I admire you for your dedication to your art. That is a LOT of time.

Now I understand why you need that coconut. You really DON’T have time to interact with people, do you?

Interesting blog. I truly never would have thought that puppet design required such a harsh time commitment. I give you a LOT of credit for devoting your time to an art that you love!
