Hehe, isn't it funny how that worked out? Actually I think my friends tend to have a higher probability of noticing puppets because I keep talking about them. We see a lot of things every day, but they don't always register (oh, just that thing in the background) or they make an impression as something more general (oh, a set of toys). For example, my parents started noticing yellow cars on the streets after I bought one.

Funny thing - I was visiting a friend this weekend and her kids had a little puppet theater, which made me think about your blog. It was a gift they'd received from their grandparents for Christmas, and it was pretty cool, though I didn't get a chance to try it out. It also converted into a general store!

Hi Barbara. Thanks for dropping by. Most people don't really watch puppet shows unless they are going with kids. I am different though. Going with friends is fun, but I wouldn't mind going by myself either if I think it will be a good show. The show was wonderful indeed. After the show I even looked for their website and emailed them to tell them how much I appreciated the performance. :-)

Hi Kelvin - It's been a long time since I've seen a puppet show, and then it was quite amateur. The show you just described sounds like a wonderful experience. Thank you for sharing it.

It was a great show indeed. The program is not specifically for showing puppetry from around the world, but just any kind of performing art from around the world. Some of them are puppet shows; some are not. I think they are going to have the Vietnamese water puppets in March. I'd like to check that out too if I have time.

I will definitely write more about Taiwanese puppetry this year. Been putting it off for too long. :-)

The show sounds so good... I'm very jealous! I want to learn more about Asian puppetry in general and have never seen anything from Taiwan. Also, it's great that there is a program for showcasing puppetry from around the world for free; something I'd love to see in Australia.

Also, can't wait to read more about Taiwanese puppetry on your blog. I definitely want to learn more about it!

I think there's just a lot of interest among parents to enrich their children culturally, and puppet shows especially seem to be a good fit for children. Yeah, puppets are quite entertaining. There's always a sense of play and wonder with them, which is really awesome.

Oh, guess what's also fun with playfulness? Your 18 unusual writing ideas! I haven't tried any of these but I just might one of these days...

I never knew there was so much interest in puppets, or that there were such puppet shows! I have a dragon puppet, which I use to entertain my niece and my cat, and I have a finger puppet too, but it's mostly become a cat toy ;) This is fun stuff.
